Our pharmacists have attended the A4M American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Symposium conference and learned further knowledge in the field of functional medicine. After suffering from low energy, extreme exhaustion, and burnout from work and life’s stressors, they learned more about taking the correct supplements, the role of bioidentical hormones, proper nutrition and exercise in playing a role in improving overall health and energy levels. 

What they learned is that the manufacturer of the supplements is very important. For example, since the FDA does not regulate supplements, one cannot know for certain that commercially available supplements one finds in the chain stores may not contain what is listed on the bottle. Since the FDA defines dietary supplements as edible things “not intended to treat, diagnose, prevent, or cure diseases,” products can go on the market without any safety, quality, or purity testing by the FDA. Therefore, it is imperative to take GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certified supplements. The GMP certification ensures that an independent third party validates the supplement and proves that it contains the amounts stated on the label.

After continuing their major research, our pharmacists started taking supplements from the following companies to ensure proper potency and ingredients: Designs for Health, Metagenics, Pure Encapsulations, Ortho Molecular, and NuMedica, which are sold at Folsom Medical Pharmacy!
